Play Therapy uses a variety of play and creative arts techniques (the Play Therapy Tool-Kit to alleviate chronic, mild and moderate psychological and emotional conditions in children that are causing behavioural problems and/or are preventing children from realising their potential.
Intensive Interaction is an approach which teaches the fundamentals of communication through interactive turn taking exchanges led by the learner. It is particularly effective in supporting children and adults with learning disabilities to socially communicate and young children with autism to learn more about socially connecting and playing with others
Joining a child in their play and engaging with them in a way that supports their social development, promoting sharing, turn taking, engagement and enjoyment. Giving the child an opportunity to rehearse play skills in a safe way with a non directive and responsive adult, developing confidence and promoting their play skills
Providing training and mentoring in Intensive Interaction, person -centred play and Autism awareness

Parents, Guardians or Caregivers: Contact Carol to arrange a free 30 minutes online consultation to discuss your needs and /or concerns. If an agreement to continue is made then a face to face consultation will be arranged to discuss further and to gain a knowledge of background history including a formal assessment of strengths and difficulties
Depending on the approach needed, sessions may take place in the persons home, however if play therapy is required then a neutral safe space will be arranged away from the home. This could be Carol's bespoke playroom or a space within the child's school.
